In the Buckle of the Belt is a must-read case study for every college student aspiring for a career in education, the professors who prepare these students, and citizens concerned by the unrelenting resolve of far right-winged conservatives to push a Christian agenda in our public school system.
Michael Maynard, a socialist, secular humanist, and award-winning teacher, was forced out of two high schools in the same school district by principals more concerned with student Christian values than student academic success.
Battling false allegations wildly taken out of context, he hopes to expose the threat to both teachers and students when politics and religion merge to replace education with indoctrination. As the evangelical Christians in public education are fond of saying, the first amendment guarantees freedom of religion, not from religion.
By weakening teacher unions, removing the protections of tenure, and eliminating dissenting voices these self-righteous evangelicals hope to spread their word and co-opt a country…one school at a time.
In the Buckle of the Belt A Florida Teaching Experience eBook Michael Maynard
A concise, well-delivered story about one Florida teacher's difficulties with politically expedient, (often) militantly-religious school administration and district officials. Michael Maynard, who is widely recognized as one of the most successful English teachers in central Florida, guides his reader through years of difficulty finding a place among peers and public officials who often seek religious and political uniformity in lieu of effective teaching. This is a must-read for prospective teachers, and anyone who cares about the quality of the American education system.Product details

In the Buckle of the Belt A Florida Teaching Experience eBook Michael Maynard Reviews
Just a bunch of liberal BS, sad to see would sell this!
Awful perspective and essentially fake news and ad hominen attacks on our local school system.
Very, very bold. Shocking! Mr. Maynard holds back nothing! Tells all. Tells it like it is. Minces no words. Skips over nothing.
Very, very brave.
Completely factual to my knowledge. I attended his class during much of the times mentioned in the later chapters. He may seem overly critical about the religion in the redacted counties, but he could not have understated it further with how pervasive religion is in the life and politics of these counties.
